Re: Getting a companion for kevin, advice needed

hey guys,

i just got a pink orchid male and put him in a 7g tank, he was loving it but then i thought he looked kinda lonely. i did some research and found out that males can usually live with females, especially if i had a divider, so i got a female and put her in a breeding tank. when i first ...

Re: Getting a companion for kevin, advice needed

Males and females, in my opinion, are best kept together only during breeding. After that, the female should be removed right away. Keeping them together long-term isn't a good idea, as the male's hormones can cause the female to become egg bound and stress her out big time. If I thought my male ...

Re: help for a sick betta

I'm worried my Betta might have fin rot and possibly a swim bladder issue - he's been resting like this a lot, as you can see in the picture. I know the picture quality isn't great, sorry about that. Does anyone have any advice? Would doing daily 75 percent water changes with gravel vac and adding ...

Re: Is my betta sick?

I'm not seeing any active fungus on the fins, am I off the mark?

Regarding the swelling, could you get a photo of your betta from directly above? I've had bettas develop dropsy after fin rot treatment, and I suspect it might be due to prolonged exposure to high salt levels.

It seems like you're ...

Re: breeding betta fish

@kingrise, no worries, I was catching some Z's lol. @daintree, I totally agree with @coltin's advice, but I'd like to add that it's crucial to have a clear understanding of what you're getting yourself into. Breeding betta can be a significant undertaking, requiring a substantial amount of time ...

Re: Betta fish dying suddenly

My female betta's not doing great and I'm worried she's on her way out. She's hiding at the bottom of my tank, near the corner, making it hard for me to get a good look at her. I did manage to catch a glimpse of her abdomen area when she swam by, and it's pretty swollen. She's still eating, but I ...

Re: Betta fish dying suddenly

I'm not entirely convinced it's dropsy just yet - a clearer photo would be super helpful. There's also a chance she might have an internal parasite causing the swelling, so I'd love to know more about her diet. What's her usual food like?
