can bubble corals handle high flow?

I've got a Bubble Coral in my 40-gallon tank and the flow seems too strong. The polyps aren't extending fully. Should I move it to a lower flow area or will it adapt?

Re: ideal temp for discus comfort

Okay, I'll raise the temp to 85°F and feed more. Can't upgrade the tank yet, but I'll look into it. Using a 200W heater, so it should handle the increase. Thanks for the advice.

Re: ideal temp for discus comfort

Mine are at 82°F. 40 gallon, sponge filter, no plants. They're small, maybe 2 inches. Not growing fast. Feeding flakes once a day. Should I raise the temp?

Re: Lone Adult Discus
I've had success with somethingphishy.com - they have a great selection of Asian-based strains, including the diamond blues I recently picked up. Their shipping is top-notch, with well-insulated packaging and heating pads. Another option is SimplyDiscus.com, although they're ...

Re: Scratches or fungal infection on skin of Blue?

Update on my blue discus - healing's coming along nicely. Looks like it was just those scratches after all, like many of you initially thought. I appreciate the input, thanks for helping me out.

I'm in agreement with the others on the salt treatment, but definitely in a QT tank, not the show tank. You've got a pretty diverse community going on, I'd love to know more about the other residents. What's the tank's inhabitants like?

I truly appreciate the insight you both have shared, it's like having the headlights turned back up after driving through a tunnel with severely dimmed visibility. I've been told that tonic salt for freshwater fish is similar to aspirin for humans ...

Re: Scratches or fungal infection on skin of Blue?

Salt in my show tank is a no-go - it'd kill all my plants. I've dealt with White Cotton before, it's a fungal infection. Typically, I treat with tetracycline in a hospital tank or bucket.

I do have multiple stumps in the tank that could've caused ...

Re: Scratches or fungal infection on skin of Blue?

Actually, I do 90% water changes weekly or 30% every 2 days, not 30% every 5-7 days. I've been considering the possibility of White Cotton Slime Stains, but I'm not entirely convinced. Deepsea mentioned the fish might have gotten stuck behind ...
