Re: A 55-gallon aquarium setup

That's roughly the same size I've seen them too. It's interesting, as this is one of my other half's favourites. I did mention to him that he could probably have one for a while, but I wasn't sure how long it would be before it outgrew the tank. I'll let him know, thanks for the info.

Re: A 55-gallon aquarium setup

I'm curious about the growth rate of Picclyasso triggers - specifically, how long would it take for a juvenile to outgrow a 55g tank. This is of interest to me as my nano setup will eventually be upgraded to this tank in a few years, and my partner has developed a fondness for these fish after ...

Re: My anemone aquarium setup

Taking advice from LFS without checking here first is a recipe for disaster, they just want to take your cash and don't care if it all goes wrong.

Re: My anemone aquarium setup

I think there's been a major misunderstanding. The issue isn't about the water itself, it's about putting anemones in a tank that's not fully mature. Just because the water is mature, it doesn't mean the tank is ready for anemones.

And let's not forget about the clownfish - mixing different species ...

Re: My anemone aquarium setup

I'm still trying to wrap my head around why you chose to ignore Colin and Seffie's advice. Those two took the time to share their knowledge with you, and it's clear they're coming from a place of experience.

Their warnings were meant to prevent your tank from crashing again, and it's frustrating ...

Re: seeking assistance with a pressing matter

They usually thrive in coflake tanks with no fishy pod predators.

If you can see behind the rocks, I'm not liking the sound of it.

My first one went belly up in plain sight, managed to get it out quick, think that's why it worked.

Mandarins are always on the move, that's how they find food, if ...

Re: seeking assistance with a pressing matter

Depending on how your rock is set up, she might be hiding from view, like Seffie's which only comes out at dusk. Having a pair can make them more active, mine are always out and about because they've got each other. What size was your mandarin when you picked her up, Scott?

Re: seeking assistance with a pressing matter

You've got a great setup for the Mandarin with that amount of live rock, Scott. I think the pods will really take off. Having the culture will make it easy to keep the population topped up in the tank. A mandarin should really thrive in that environment, it's perfect.

How did you get on with the ...

Re: seeking assistance with a pressing matter

Check out my thread in Chit Chat called Mandarin Love, I've got some info on feeding and a link to the Mandarin diner.

My mandarins would hide in a cave when the other fish were fed, so I started feeding them in there - now they know to go in when they're hungry and want some frozen. I use a long ...

Re: Aggressive percussion

I think it would depend on the type of Goby you're planning to get. You're probably fine with a clown goby, they're tiny and don't produce much waste, but something like a watchman goby might be a bit too much for your tank. Once you've got the new perc, just keep a close eye on your water stats for ...
