Re: please help me

Honestly, I'm still unsure what this disease is, but I'll try to help.

I just spent like 10 minutes reading through some stuff, and it was kinda a waste of time, but I felt like I had to do it anyway.

Re: Seeking advice for my 55-gallon saltwater aquarium

Live rock already contains living bacteria and dying organisms that release ammonia. Even semi-cured rock, which most stores sell, has enough dying organisms to fully cycle your tank without harming fish. Fully cured rock has no dying organisms but lots of bacteria, instantly cycling your tank ...

Re: Seeking advice for my 55-gallon saltwater aquarium

I've had my share of experience with Top Fin filters, and let me tell you, they're not the most reliable. Mine lasted about three months before the motor gave out on me. I'm not saying it's impossible to make it work, but a failed filter is like a dull razor - it's just not effective.

I think the ...

Re: Seeking advice for my 55-gallon saltwater aquarium

I think you should focus on adding more live rock to your tank, it's the way to go for a fish with live rock tank. The LFS recommendation of 1lb of LR per gallon is a good starting point. I'd also consider upgrading your filtration system, maybe ditch the Top Fin filter and go for something better ...

Re: A sailfin discussion

Ease up on the caps lock, mate. No one likes to be screamed at.

You've been keeping marine fish for years, so I'm surprised you'd take that advice from the LFS. It's obvious they're in it for the cash. They're telling you to buy more fish, even when your main tank is infected. Doesn't make sense ...

Re: A sailfin discussion

Water change will help with water quality, wont fix the issue though and wont do much to help the problem at hand. Stress coat is just a dechlorinator with some aloe vera to help the slime coat on your fish, but that's about it, wont cure the problem with your tangs.

Re: A sailfin discussion

I'd take all the fish out - what's your stock, again - and give them a hyposalinity treatment in a quarantine tank, then leave the main tank empty for 6-8 weeks. If you don't have inverts, like live rock or corals, you might be able to do the treatment in the main tank, no quarantine needed.

Re: A sailfin discussion

Give it some nori with garlic, a healthy fluffnut can make all the difference for any fish.

Re: A sailfin discussion

Still need more info here. What's the tank size, and do you have any pics of the affected eye? What's been its diet lately? Was the issue gradual or did it just show up overnight?

Re: A sailfin discussion

the issue here is a lack of info from your end, making it tough to pinpoint a specific cause - anything could've led to this problem.
