Re: best discus tank mates for color

If you're gonna go big, Boesemani Rainbows. Their blue/yellow gradient is wild, but they need space. I've got five in a 125-gallon with Discus, temp at 83°F. Just watch feeding—they're faster than Discus, so scatter food wide.

Re: my coral is turning brown, why?

Could be the clownfish messing with the flow near the coral. They're chill but territorial. If they're hosting nearby, the coral might not be getting enough flow or light. Try moving the coral to a different spot, see if it bounces back.

Don't stress about it.
Just commit to those large daily water changes for a bit and your discus will get through this. I know it's a challenge, but it's a proven solution.

Re: Discus goals.... what are yours?

Al, your question brought back memories of when I first joined this forum 4-5 years ago. I recall a member named Discus Pilgrim, and I had to look up the meaning of "pilgrim" - it made perfect sense then. This hobby is indeed a lifelong journey of learning and ...

Your plan seems solid. Diether schooling fish aren't a must, I just used them as an example for discus tankmates.
Red tail sharks are way too boisterous and aggressive for peaceful discus fish, so it's best to avoid them.
Plecos ...

Hi Maged, welcome to the forum. That's one heck of a tank you're setting up. The size is impressive and your planning seems solid too. Is the scape with rocks in the photo your planned design?

I think it's doable to keep discus with a ...
