If you're gonna go big, Boesemani Rainbows. Their blue/yellow gradient is wild, but they need space. I've got five in a 125-gallon with Discus, temp at 83°F. Just watch feeding—they're faster than Discus, so scatter food wide.

Could be the clownfish messing with the flow near the coral. They're chill but territorial. If they're hosting nearby, the coral might not be getting enough flow or light. Try moving the coral to a different spot, see if it bounces back.

Don't stress about it.
Just commit to those large daily water changes for a bit and your discus will get through this. I know it's a challenge, but it's a proven solution.
P.s. Having just three discus isn't ideal. Ideally, you'd want at least six for a harmonious ...

Your plan seems solid. Diether schooling fish aren't a must, I just used them as an example for discus tankmates.
