Re: identifying pine cone scales on beta
I just brought home a beta fish from the pet store a couple of days ago. Initially, everything seemed fine, but now I'm noticing what could be pinecone scales under his dorsal fin. They're only on one side, though. He's been super active and always eager for food, so I'm not seeing any sickly ...

Re: exploring the world's rarest aquarium fish
Honestly, I'm not big on specific tank brands, I just go with whatever works best for my setup.
I'm with you on that, I've got brand tanks too, Aqueon's my go-to. I've always been interested in making my own equipment, but living with the folks makes that kinda tough. Plus, DIY can be pricey at ...

Invest in quality equipment, but don't break the bank on it. Spend your money where it really counts – on the plants and fish that bring your tank to life.Emeraldsea wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 10:29 pm Honestly, I'm not big on specific tank brands, I just go with whatever works best for my setup.

I'm with Emeraldsea on this, I don't bother with specific brands. As long as it's quality and gets the job done, I'm good.Emeraldsea wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 10:29 pm Honestly, I'm not big on specific tank brands, I just go with whatever works best for my setup.

Re: Persistent parasitic infestation that won't go away
I'm not much help with saltwater tanks myself, but I know some folks here have experience with them - @onyzza's one of them, she might be able to lend a hand. Hopefully someone with the right knowledge will chime in, sorry I'm not more help.

Re: A question about food: "do we have fries?"
Just had a great surprise in my tank - my fish has finally released some of her babies. I've counted about 7 so far, but it looks like she's still carrying a few more. Really excited about this as it's my first time experiencing a tank pregnancy. A few weeks ago I found a single fry from another ...

Re: where to find the best online plant retailers?
I've had a good experience with two plant shops - Marcus's Fish Tank and Canton Aquatics. Both have free shipping, which is a big plus. I've found their eBay shops to be a bit cheaper, just a heads up.

Is there mold on my red root floaters?
I was checking out my 10g tank where I keep my gudgeons and I noticed something weird on some of the red root floaters. I'm not sure what it is - can someone tell me what's going on here and if it's something I should be worried about?

Re: Why certain plants cause high ammonia levels
I've been doing some research online and I've come across some people saying that ammonia levels of 3ppm can be really bad for aquatic plants, almost like they "melt" or something. I know I tend to overdo it with the research, but I just want to make sure I'm prepared.
