Re: Fish vision and color perception

Fish vision varies a lot by species. For example, Bettas can see UV light, which humans can't. That's why some breeders use UV-reactive decor. It's wild how their world looks totally different from ours.

Re: Monte Carlo pearling post-water change

Thanks for the input, everyone. Substrate is CaribSea Eco-Complete. The pearling lasted about 3 hours this time. Gonna keep an eye on it next water change.

Monte Carlo pearling post-water change

Just did a 50% water change on my 20 gallon planted tank and noticed my Monte Carlo is pearling like crazy. Never seen it this intense before. Anyone else experience this? Running a Finnex 24/7 light, CO2 at 30 ppm, and dosing Thrive twice a week.

Re: local fish stocking information

My perc clown's getting bullied by the new black and white clown I just added, I'm starting to think about adding a few more to the mix to even things out.

Re: Frogspawn coral dying, what's going wrong

In my experience, frogspawn tend to thrive in areas with minimal flow. I've had the best luck with them in spots where the flow is almost nonexistent. If you can find a place in your tank that fits this description, it might be worth giving it a try to see if that's the issue.

Re: Is excessive water flow harming my frogspawn coral?

looks like the perfect amount to me. I personally wouldn't add more than that. had great growth with frogspawn in low flow areas, seems to work well for them.

Re: Target feeding open brain corals

"My feeders are always out, I've noticed this might be due to slightly dirty water, so it's keeping them out to catch any stray particles floating by."

Re: Attaching frogspawn to live rock effectively

I've had great success with super glue gel, it's always provided a strong hold and cures quickly.
