Kribensis do require specific water conditions, alkaline and high pH being ideal for them. As African cichlids, they thrive in such environments. On a separate note, congrats on the new additions, lovely to see you've taken the plunge and given them a home.

Yep, tannins can sketch out Discus. Did you boil that wood first? Also, what's your water change schedule?

I'm with the consensus - Duncan and frogspawn/torch do great in high flow, just as long as it's not blasting them directly.

"Could be your lighting's changed or maybe the bulbs are due for a swap. I've noticed with my own corals that when the bulbs start getting old, they tend to lose some of their color. Worth checking into, maybe?"
