Re: Something's wrong

I'm with axonify on this one, Hyposalinity is the way to go. Spirulina and garlic, those are great additions to boost their immune system, especially when dealing with ich.

That last bit about the goby getting cleaned against his will had me chuckling. My cleaner shrimps, on the other hand, are ...

Re: Something's wrong

I had a trio of skunk cleaners and a lone fireshrimp when my tangs came down with ich. The skunk cleaners always backed away from the tangs, which I found interesting. However, the fireshrimp was a different story altogether - the tangs actively sought him out, and he did a decent job of cleaning ...

Re: A regal with a striking appearance

I'd be very cautious about adding this Regal Tang to your main display tank, especially given its already weakened state. Tangs are notoriously prone to whitespot, and the last thing you want is to introduce a fish with ich into your display tank - it can be an absolute nightmare to deal with and ...

Re: is liquid carbon safe for fish?

I agree with floraborn. My betta tank has been fine with liquid carbon, but I only use a quarter dose. Maybe tetras are more sensitive?

Re: A three band circus performer

It seems like a fairly normal behavior, but I'd keep an eye on how fast they're breathing. If it's rapid, it could be a sign of stress or illness. However, if they're still swimming around with plenty of energy and eating normally, it's likely not a major concern. Just as long as your water ...

Re: branching in hammer corals

Looks like it's losing some color. Try placing it in a corner, see if the colors come back over time. I've found branching hammers to be pretty resilient, they can handle some issues. My own branching piece has been through a lot, but it's still going strong. The wall hammers, on the other hand, are ...

Re: Adding live rock to an aquarium with established fish

You'll need to be on the lookout for unwanted stowaways when adding live rock to your tank, especially if it's uncured. Since it hasn't been cleaned or inspected, the chances of getting hitchhikers are higher. Those damsels you've got might just become a meal for a mantis shrimp, not ideal in a ...

Re: about dwarf angels

I had a coflake beauty in my old tank, 180L, and it was a great addition - never bothered the coflakes. Bicolour angels are definitely eye-catching but I've found they can be a bit more territorial, and from my research, they seem more likely to nip at coflakes than the coflake beauty. Plus, they ...

Re: about dwarf angels

Hi,

I'm on the hunt for a dwarf angelfish that's easy to care for in my 120litre nano cube. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

You've got a few options for a dwarf angelfish that'd thrive in a 120L tank. The flame angel, flameback, and Coflake Beauty are all good choices ...

Using chemiclean to treat bacterial infections

I've had success using this product to get rid of red slime at lower doses over longer periods, no problems so far. My all-LPS tank has had some issues with wall hammers - they'll start decaying, usually in a corner, and before I know it, the piece is gone. This has happened a few times over the ...
