Re: algae and nitrite issues
Hi,
We've been having issues with our Nitrite levels for a while now. We're using RO water, and our mate Mike (cheers Mike, if you're reading this) assures us the membrane is regularly cleaned. We've been doing water changes, but that hasn't helped. Recently, our sand and rocks started turning ...

Re: Aggressive fish in a 55 gallon tank
Considering a 55-gallon tank with a Penguin Biowheel 350 (biowheels will be removed) and a D&D Marine protein skimmer, I'm wondering if a porcupine puffer, volatin or radiata (haven't decided yet), lionfish, and a barred moray eel would get along. The tank's equipped with 60lbs of Fiji live sand ...

Re: Keeping wild saltwater fish
I've had three Labroides dimidiatus, and all of them took to flake food straight away. It's odd, because the literature suggests they're tricky to feed, but from my experience and that of others in the UK, it doesn't seem to be the case. The real issue I've found is that they can be a bit of a ...

Re: Keeping wild saltwater fish
Honestly, I'm a bit lost after reading all that. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it. What's the big deal about buying stuff from a pet store, you know?
I think cleaner wrasses are really easy to keep, they're not that hard to care for, I've had some experience with them and they're ...

Re: capturing the elusive maroon clown
I've found that using a trap works pretty well. Leaving it in the tank for a few days, feeding through the trap, and being patient is key. Most fish can be caught this way if you're willing to wait.

Re: starting a saltwater aquarium
I've had my tank up and running for about 4 months now, and it's been cycled... I've got a mix of fish in there - 2 yellow tailed damsels, 1 three striped damsel, and a devil blue damsel. There's also a chocolate chip star, some small blue legged crabs, and a couple of snails. I'm thinking of ...

Re: is a copper band suitable for my aquarium tank
Copperbands aren't the easiest to keep alive, to be honest. They're generally alright in a reef setup but do have a thing for fan worms and feather dusters.sweetie_22 wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 12:09 am the fish are housed in my 100 gallon tanks, as mentioned in my sig.
also, are they safe for a reef setup

Re: Marine fish recommendations from the community
Hi Sam,
Thanks for sharing your tank setup and the fish you're interested in keeping. I have some thoughts on the ones you've listed.
First off, Clown Triggers are beautiful but they can get massive and quite aggressive, so I'd advise against them for your tanks. The Picclyasso Trigger is also ...
