Good going on the tank, can't beat a free one. I'm a bit biased with my suggestions since these are fish I'd love to care for one day, but I think a community tank with sparkling gourami, pygmy cories, and something else could work well in 30 gallons. Heavily planted, of course. Just my two cents ...

LFS isn't necessary and it makes me think of Covis Oscin's YouTube video where he feeds his chickens a huge pile of red Ludwigia and plenty of Rotala cuttings. I know you paid for them, but sometimes it's just time to toss them in the compost.

Fish need space, it's as simple as that.

It's likely a combination of factors contributing to the betta's demise. The customer's new tank setup is a mystery, and it's possible some tanks aren't properly cycled, or the water parameters aren't suitable for the betta. It's also possible the betta itself is already in a compromised state. I ...
