I've had luck with Marimo moss balls in my betta tank. They're super low maintenance and my betta likes to push them around. Not sure if that counts as messing with them, but it's kinda cute. Just rinse them occasionally to keep 'em clean.

Anubias and Java Fern are solid choices for low light. They don't need much, just tie them to driftwood or rocks. Bettas usually leave them alone. If you want something for the substrate, try Cryptocoryne Wendtii. It's hardy and doesn't need strong light. Just avoid planting it too deep in the ...
