Re: discus fry feeding schedule guide
Another tip: if you're using beef heart, freeze it first and grate it super fine. Makes it easier for the fry to eat and reduces waste. My tank's got a thin layer of sand, but bare bottom is probably better for fry.

Re: discus fry feeding schedule guide
Agree with vital on the frequent feedings. I do 6 small meals a day, alternating between baby brine shrimp, microworms, and a homemade beef heart paste. Tank's at 86F, and I've noticed faster growth with the higher temp. Just make sure your filtration can handle the extra food.

Re: raising discus fry feeding tricks
I agree with Skyline. More frequent feedings are key. I've had success with a mix of baby brine shrimp and powdered spirulina. My fry are in a 30-gallon tank, temp at 84°F, with a canister filter. I do 30% water changes twice a day. How old are your fry?

A common guideline is to allocate at least 10 gallons per discus. I came across a post suggesting 15 gallons for wild-caught discus, but this seems to be an exception rather than the rule. For growing juveniles, it's not uncommon to start with less than 10 ...

Hi Greg,
I had success with a similar setup 15 years back. My tank was at 78 degrees, pH 6.0, with CO2 injection and 4 - 52W HO T5 bulbs. I used 50/50 RO to tap water and did 15-20% water changes weekly. NO3 was around 5 or unmeasurable. The tank was heavily ...
