Re: my experience with shell dwellers

I'm in love with that Tropheus moorii, it's gorgeous. I think I need to be locked up, my house is overflowing with tanks already, no more space for new ones. Thanks for the link, I'll definitely check it out, I have a feeling I'll end up wanting more shellies.

Re: my experience with shell dwellers

Thanks Sean, I'll give the rocks a good boiling water treatment. I appreciate the advice, but please, no more shellie suggestions - my head is already spinning with all the options. I'm really struggling to decide on just one. By the way, I love the fish in your avatar, what species is it?

Re: my experience with shell dwellers

A little update on my shell dweller tank. Got the rock I mentioned earlier, and here's a before picture - all dry and dusty. I was thinking of stacking it up in one corner as a tower, but ignore the small rock at the front, that's already in my dwarf puffer tank.

After washing, the rock looks ...

Re: my experience with shell dwellers

I'm really taken by the brevis now, mainly because they don't need as many shells, so I can fit in some moss balls and plenty of rocks for the other fish. If I go with two males and two females, do you think they'll definitely pair up, or is it better to have more females so the males have a choice ...

Re: my experience with shell dwellers

Thanks for all the suggestions, mizonix. I'll be doing some more research on those to see what would work best for my tank.

I just got back from the local garden centre, they have a huge fish section and I had a chat with the manager about my plans. He's given me loads of rock, so I'll be stacking ...

Re: my experience with shell dwellers

Thanks so much for breaking the silence here.

First off, here's your well-deserved coffee and cookies – I hope they're to your liking.

I think I'll take your advice and stick to one species of shellie, now I just need to decide which one to go with. I'll do some more research on the different ...

Re: my experience with shell dwellers

I think I need to try a different approach here. How about I offer some virtual cookies and a cup of coffee to the first person who can help me out with my shell dweller tank questions

my experience with shell dwellers

I'm really looking forward to setting up my new shell dweller tank, my first foray into African Cichlids. I've done some research, but I still have a few questions and I'm hoping someone can offer some advice.

My tank dimensions are 36 inches wide, 12 inches deep, and 18 inches high, which works ...
