Re: Plants for a Peaceful Community Tank

If you wanna add some color, try Ludwigia Repens. It's easy to grow and turns red under moderate light. My corys dig rooting around its stems. Just give it a trim now and then to keep it bushy.

Re: Light adaptation period for lps corals

I'd say it's unlikely the issue is with lighting. Typically, changes in lighting intensity would cause bleaching, and a change in photoperiod might just offset their opening schedule for a day or two, but they should still open up fully.

My top three guesses for what's going on are:

1) Poor water ...

Re: branching in hammer corals

If the clowns are indeed going into the coral, they're likely bothering it. I've got hammers in my own tank that are as close as 12 inches from a Kessil A350W, running 100% on blues and about 30% on whites, and they don't seem to be affected in terms of coloration. However, I do think that LEDs can ...

Re: First torch coral

You're coming from Radions to PC, that's a big change. The torch is likely bleaching due to the difference in lighting power. PC might be sufficient for the torch, but it'll take some time for it to adjust to the new conditions.

Re: My bicolor blenny purchase was the best decision i've made in a long time

my blenny is literally obsessed with the overflow, it's hilarious. i've got a gutterguard on it to prevent the starfish from causing chaos and blocking the pipe, but this little guy has found a way to make it his own personal spa. he'll sit there with his tail draped over the gutterguard, his head ...

My bicolor blenny purchase was the best decision i've made in a long time

name says it all, this little fella is literally the most curious and hilarious fish i've ever had. just sits on his rock, watching the world go by, and keeps an eye on everyone - even when you try to sneak up on him from the side.

also, i've noticed something pretty weird - Fluxx, my Nemo who's ...

Re: keeping lyretail anthias

I'd say 190kg of live rock is way more than you'd need for a 420litre tank, it's like overkill, right? seems a bit excessive.
is that some sort of record or something, like a gkento4t challenge?

Re: Is this elegance coral a good purchase?

Two weeks isn't a long time in the grand scheme, as elegance corals can decline gradually. I've found that they often deteriorate over a period of 2-6 months, which is why I'd personally be cautious. My experience with these corals is that they're a bit like clams - they can appear fine one moment ...
