Ludwigia Repens is a tough one if your tank isn't dialed in. I'd start with the basics: light, ferts, and CO2. Even a little liquid CO2 can help. What's your tank temp? Cooler water can slow growth.

I've never had issues with plants in new tanks. Just make sure they're not dying or rotting, or you'll have bigger problems.

I've heard some people dip the scissors in hydrogen peroxide before trimming to prevent infection. Has anyone tried that?
