Re: Fluval filter for tropical setups

If you're worried about flow, the Fluval 207 might be a better fit. It's less powerful but still adequate for a 30 gallon. I've used both, and the 207 is gentler for sensitive species like Gouramis.

Re: why is my Stylophora not branching?

Yeah, pests are a silent killer. Always dip new corals, no exceptions. Even if they look clean, you never know.

Re: why is my Stylophora not branching?

Lighting could be part of it too. 70% on an AI Prime might not be enough PAR for Stylophora. Have you measured PAR at the coral's location? Aim for 200–300 PAR for best growth.

Re: Favia feeding response

If all else fails, give it a break for a few days. Sometimes they just need a reset. Mine went on a hunger strike for a week once, then bounced back.

Re: Favia feeding response

How old is your Favia? Older specimens can be slower to respond. Also, check for any pests bothering it. I've seen flatworms mess with feeding behavior.

considering my next aquatic pet

I've got a 90 litre reef tank with a 7 litre external filter, and it's currently home to a 3cm tailspot blenny and a 2cm Rainford's goby. I'm looking to add some new fish, but I want to do it slowly, so just one for now. What would be a good choice to add next?
