Good point. Also, test the heat pack beforehand to see how hot it gets. Some can get way too warm for a small container.

Re: How to transport a Betta fish

I transported mine in a fish bag with pure oxygen from the LFS. They sealed it tight, and I double-bagged it for safety. The ride was about 2 hours, and he was fine. Just make sure the bag isn't too big or too small, enough water for them to move a bit.

Re: Growing anubis in pale conditions

I'm pretty sure you're dealing with an iron deficiency. I've seen it before - add some iron glutamate and watch the improvement. Seachem's product is reliable, I've had good results with it. If you want a more affordable option, you could try the generic version from Walgreens, although I've never ...

Re: Growing nymphoides hydrophylla in taiwan

I just watched a video by Blake on youtube and he said something that really hit home - "Stay away from plants fish will pick at". It's crazy how true that is. I mean some plants just seem to have that one thing that'll attract a plant-eater, even if they're not supposed to be plant-eaters. Like ...

Re: Java fern producing small brown offshoots: new plants or a cause for concern?

I've noticed Java ferns seem to have a survival strategy, where even aging, ragged leaves will try to reproduce through viviparity. It's interesting that a plant considered easy to grow can be so underutilized - I think many people don't fully tap into their potential. I recall Zorchno's massive ...

Re: troubleshooting my planted aquarium issues

Watched the video, those swords look amazing. I'm actually jealous of that center sword, is that the red melon? If you want them to grow bigger, you'll need to increase the lighting. I'm guessing you're using a single 30-watt light, but doubling up would give them the boost they need. You could also ...

Re: troubleshooting my planted aquarium issues

I know I've mentioned this before, but I'm going to say it again because it's relevant to your situation. I had the same issue with my swords, and it went on for over a year. I was stumped, just like you. Then I started using Seachem iron, and it was like a switch had been flipped. The sword plant ...

Re: does super red mini ludwigia live up to its name?

Never seen anything like this plant online. Each leaf is roughly the size of my rainbowfish's eyeballs, maybe even smaller. I'm envisioning it growing into a 12-inch tall, dainty stem plant with an airy texture. Unless, that is, the stronger summer sun and a boost of fertilizer cause it to put on ...

does super red mini ludwigia live up to its name?

This Super Red Mini is teeny, tiny. Check out those red leaves - they're half the size of the ones I got when I ordered it. The originals were bigger, some were even greenish. Now they're this deep red color from the sun, but they're super small and round. No Co2 needed, and it's stayed red even ...

Re: Here comes godzilla: tokyo's latest threat

Update on the Godzilla - it's been a day, and so far, so good. No nibbling, no drama. I'm taking that as a positive sign, for now.
