I've found boiled egg to be a great food source for newborn fry in the first few days, it's just as effective as Liquifry. When it comes to feeding adult fish, I prepare boiled egg by mashing it up with a fork. To dry it out, I leave it in direct sunlight for about 4 hours or on my kitchen worktop ...

I've been collecting live foods for over 30 years, never had a problem. Yeah, there's a risk, but it's one you've got to take if you want to give your fish the best.

I culture mosquito larvae by collecting rafts from my water butts. I put one raft in each 4-litre container of water - each usually produces 200-300 larvae. They hatch within 24 hours, feeding on the green water and growing fast. This is just one method I use for feeding.

I'm thinking of breeding the green female to a blue male, should be interesting to see if any green males pop up from the spawn.

They seem alright to me, I reckon you should ease off on the food a bit next time since they're still settling in.
