Re: do you test water for plant health?

Yep, testing just the basics won't cut it if your plants are acting sketchy. You gotta check phosphate and potassium too. My stems were melting until I realized my phosphate was basically zero. Now I dose a bit, and they're chilling. Also, what's your CO2 level? Too much or too little can mess ...

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Gonna grab some frozen brine shrimp and see if they perk up. Appreciate the help!

Apistogramma feeding routines

Just got a pair of Apistogramma cacatuoides and wanna make sure I'm feeding them right. They're in a 20 gallon with sand substrate, some driftwood, and a few Java ferns. Been giving them flakes and frozen bloodworms twice a day. They seem to eat but not super excited. What's your routine?

Re: is african cichlid shedding normal?

I took another look, and I'm pretty sure it's a green severum. It's gonna get huge, like up to 12 inches long. Since my tank's only 30 gallons, I might upgrade to a 60-gallon once it reaches 7 or 8 inches - don't want it to get too cramped in there.

I was looking at pictures online and I thought it might be a Buttikoferi Cichlid, but I'm not ...

Re: is african cichlid shedding normal?

The fish look the same as when I brought them home from the store. Initially, one was a bit aggressive towards the other, but after finding their own little hiding spots, they seem to be coexisting just fine.

is african cichlid shedding normal?

Hi all, I just got two African Cichlids yesterday and I'm a bit concerned about something I noticed in the tank. The store tested the water and said it was fine for new fish, but I didn't get the exact parameters. The fish seem fine, eating and exploring normally. There's this white stuff in the ...
