The 3rd one reminds me of a haplochromis, I'm thinking it might be one of those. I could be off the mark, but it bears a resemblance to my own hap. sp 35s.

Synodontis Catfish are a great choice to pair with Malawis, they work really well together. I've also seen them do well with Bristlenose's. I've come across some set-ups with clown loaches too, but I'm not too sure how they'll do in the long run, considering they can get quite large. Out of the fish ...

I've found another great option for a bottom feeder that works well with my cichlids - Synodontis sp. cats, specifically the feathertail or upside-down varieties. They seem to coexist peacefully, with my cichlids barely acknowledging their presence.

You'll probably be better off going with artificial plants, like plastic or silk, since they're pretty much guaranteed to trash any live ones you try to put in.

Danios are the best starter fish, no cap. They'll tolerate beginner mistakes but still look awesome. Just don't crank the heat too high, and they'll be golden.

You're in for a challenge with those two. Jewel cichlids are notorious for being super aggressive, I had one in a community tank once and it was a disaster. I ended up having to keep her alone, couldn't keep her with any other fish, she'd attack everything.

My hubby had a hunch one of them was holding, we weren't entirely sure though
