Anyone tried breeding Discus in a smaller tank? I've got a 29-gallon lying around and wanna give it a shot.

Lol, my Discus straight up murdered every shrimp I put in there. Even the big bois. Maybe yours are nicer, but mine are savages. Tank's at 80°F, sand substrate, and a HOB filter. Shrimp didn't stand a chance.

My Discus aren't breeding and I think it's the water hardness. I've got a 75 gallon tank, sand substrate, and a Fluval canister filter. I've had luck with adding a bit of methylene blue to the tank. Just a drop or two. Helps with stress and prevents fungus. Also, how often are you cleaning the sponge filter? Gotta keep it pristine.

Weird vibe, but are the parents still in there? Sometimes they stress the fry. Also, try adding some almond leaves—helps with the water and gives 'em hiding spots.

Floaters explode if you got bright lights. Just don't let 'em cover the whole surface, Discus need some open space. Also, duckweed's a pain to remove, so maybe try salvinia first.

I'd say cut it with RO if you can. My first batch croaked in hard water, second batch's doing great with 150 ppm. Tank's 55 gallons, driftwood, no plants. Filter's a cheapo HOB, but it works. Feed 'em tetra bits and frozen brine shrimp.
