Excess dechlorinator can bind oxygen in the water, which might stress fish if you're using a lot. Stick to the recommended dose unless you're dealing with heavy chloramine. What brand are you using?

If you're still having issues, consider lowering the CO2. Sometimes too much can shock the cuttings. Aim for 20-30 ppm, not the 40+ some folks push.

Melting usually means unstable conditions. How long has your tank been running? If it's less than 3 months, the biome might not be mature enough. Try dipping the cuttings in Seachem Flourish before planting.

If you're adding root tabs, make sure to push them deep into the sand near the roots. Surface placement won't do much good.

My plants are struggling, and I'm not sure if I should start using ferts or just rely on fish waste. The tank's been running for 3 months, 20 gallons, with a sponge filter and sand substrate. I've got some Anubias and Java Fern, but they're not thriving. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite ...
