Float plants are a great idea for nutrient control. They're like a natural filter. Just be sure to thin them out regularly so they don't block too much light. Also, keep an eye on your substrate. Over time, it can compact and choke roots, especially in finer substrates like Stratum.

Testing for micronutrients is crucial if you're serious about plant health. I recommend a comprehensive test kit that includes iron, manganese, and calcium. In my experience, Anubias and Java Fern are hardy, but stem plants often show deficiencies first. What's your lighting schedule? Too much light ...

I've taken a closer look at that ornament and you're right, it does have those silicone plant things attached. I've been thinking of removing it anyway, so I'll go ahead and take it out now.

I've got a pretty laid-back Betta, he's never flared up at all, but I'm still wondering if he could be stressed without showing it. Even when the tetras swim near him, or he swims near them, he just doesn't seem to care - no flaring, no nipping.

Is my fish suffering from fin damage?
Hi all,
I've noticed my Betta's fins aren't looking their best lately.
The fins seem a bit tattered and I'm unsure what's causing it - is it fin rot, nipping from his tankmates, or maybe he's getting caught on a plant?
He's housed with some neon tetras, but I've only seen them nipping at each ...
