Re: Best Plants for Soft Water

I've found that adding a bit of crushed coral to the substrate can help stabilize the pH without making it too hard. It's a subtle change, but it's made a difference for my plants.

Re: Best Plants for Soft Water

For a carpeting plant, consider Dwarf Hairgrass. It can adapt to soft water if you provide enough light and CO2. Mine took a while to spread, but now it's covering the entire foreground of my tank.

It was indeed from Pets at Home, and I'm surprised anyone would have left it on the shelf for so long - I feel like I ...

I've taken another look and I think I could actually fill it with gravel through the small hole at the top, thanks so ...

I appreciate the suggestion, but unfortunately, the hole is positioned in a way that makes it difficult to add gravel ...

Is driftwood safe for a betta?

Hi everyone,

I'm seeking some advice on this mopani wood I bought for my tank. I got home and noticed the bottom is hollow with a rough interior and a small hole. I love the idea of a hiding spot for my Crowntail Betta, but I'm worried the roughness could damage his fins or he might get stuck. Can ...

Re: Finding the right rocks

I found this Aquarium Decoration Rock Fish Tank Natuflake Stone DARK GREY, it says it's 100% natural which sounds good for my tank. It's usually used for cichlids but I think it could work for my Betta. It stabilises pH and hardens the water, so that's a plus.

I'm also looking at Seiryu Stone ...

Re: Finding the right rocks

Hi, thanks for the response, I appreciate it.

I actually did check my LFS, but they never seem to have a good selection of rocks like these.

I was looking at something similar to what you posted - those Houston Matrix rocks look great, would they be okay for my tank?

Finding the right rocks

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of adding some large rocks to my 10 gallon Betta tank and I'm looking for some advice. I've read that certain stones can be too rough and cause damage to the Betta's fins, which I definitely want to avoid.

Can anyone recommend a dark rock, preferably black or grey, that ...
