Good point. Also, watch for aggression. If the male's too pushy, the female might not be ready. Breeding Apistos can be tricky. Your params sound good, but have you tried lowering the pH to around 6.0? They often need softer, more acidic water to trigger spawning. Also, live foods like brine shrimp or blackworms can help condition them.
