If you're worried about dead spots, try using a turkey baster to blow water around the rockwork after you've set it up. You'll see where the flow isn't reaching. It's a quick way to spot problems before adding corals.

Horizontal placement near the filter works best for me. It's out of the way and distributes heat evenly. Just avoid putting it near any air stones, as the bubbles can mess with the thermostat.

Cryptocorynes are another option. They're slow growers but hardy once established. I've got Crypt Wendtii in my 20 gallon with Ember Tetras. The red variety adds nice color contrast. Just don't move them too much, they don't like being disturbed.

hi, i'm planning on getting a 75 gallon tank and i'm thinking of getting a frontosa. i've got a few questions about them before i bring one home.
first off, do frontosas need hard water like other african cichlids?
i'm also wondering if one could live with a buffalo head cichlid or two in a 75 ...
