I've tried all these plants, but my tank is still kinda bare. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? How often should I fertilize in low light?


Yo, if your tank's bare, you might not be giving the plants enough time. They grow slow in low light, so patience is key. Fertilize once a week, but go easy ...

Anubias and Java Fern are solid picks, no doubt. But you gotta check out Cryptocoryne Wendtii. That thing's a beast in low light. Just plant it and forget it, pretty much. Also, Moss balls are chill if you want something super easy.

I gave it a shot, but my bottom dwellers didn't take to it. I've had more luck with brown, square-section drainpipe angle-pieces - my fish are all over those.

I've found aquarium sand to be the way to go, even if it's pricier than play sand. You only buy it once, so it's a worthwhile investment. My corys absolutely love it, and I've seen firsthand how much they thrive in this environment. As for plants, I've had great success with Vallisnaria and Zorchzon ...
