I've noticed my oldest and largest male African yellow has some algae growth on him, it's been there for a bit now and he doesn't seem too fussed about it. Another tip: if you're using LED lights, keep them on for no more than 6-8 hours a day in low light. Longer can cause algae, even if the light's dim.

Hey, I've had great luck with Amazon Swords in my low-light tank. They're not as demanding as people think. Just make sure you've got a decent substrate, like Flourite, and they'll do fine. Also, Vallisneria is another good one, spreads like crazy.
