If you don't kick off a journal thread soon, I swear I'll track you down and hijack your tank to start one myself.

I'd advise against driftwood - those shellies will just rearrange it to their liking, and it'll never stay put.

I'd be cautious about jumpers, I've come across several accounts of them.

I've always been a fan of adding some color with Platies as dithers, but honestly, I think it's best to wait and see what your shell dwellers prefer before adding any.

I've got a 10g tank that's been running for about 2 years, and to be honest, the plants are pretty stagnant. Java Moss is the only one showing any real growth. My Jungle Val's been in there for at least 6 months now and I haven't seen any increase in height or runners. On the other hand ...
