I've seen Bamboo shrimp work in bigger tanks. They're bigger and kinda chill in one spot. But yeah, tiny shrimp like Cherries are gonna get wrecked. My Discus are in a 120 gallon with lots of Java moss, and even then, I only keep Amanos.

My Discus seem fine with moderate flow, but I've got lots of plants breaking it up. Maybe add some driftwood or tall plants to slow things down?

My Discus flare at the Corys sometimes, but no real fights. The Corys just scoot away. Maybe it's a personality thing? My tank's heavily planted, so everyone has hiding spots.

I'd try adding some epsom salt to the tank. Just a teaspoon per 10 gallons. It can help with bloating and isn't too harsh on the fish.

I prefer bare bottom for my Discus. It's simpler to keep clean, and I can see if there's any uneaten food or waste. My tank is 65 gallons with a canister filter and a powerhead for extra flow. Water changes are easier too.
