Re: Betta fish feeding schedule
Healthy adults can go 3 days without food, no problem. If you're worried, feed lightly the day before leaving and do a small water change. Auto feeders often dump too much and foul the water. Nerites will clean up algae, so no stress there.

Re: Betta fish feeding schedule
Twice a day is fine, but keep portions small. Bettas have tiny stomachs, about the size of their eye. Overfeeding can cause bloating or swim bladder issues. I feed mine 2-3 pellets in the AM and a small piece of frozen food at night, skipping one day a week.

Re: Trusted online tropical fish retailers
AquaHuna is decent, but for rarer species, I'd recommend The Wet Spot. They've got a huge selection, and their customer service is top-notch. Just be ready to pay a bit more for quality.

Re: Is my betta sick?
I'm having trouble seeing the extent of the damage in the photos - is the fin rot limited to the caudal fin or has it also affected the pectoral fins?
If it's only the caudal fin, I've seen cases where bettas inflict damage on themselves, particularly if they're feeling stressed or trying to ...

Re: ideal salinity for coral reef tank
Stability is key. Once you dial in alk and mag, give it a few weeks before making more changes. Acros take time to adjust. And if you're upgrading bulbs, go for ATI or Giesemann. Cheap ones can give your tank a weird vibe.

Re: ideal salinity for coral reef tank
Salinity is only part of the equation. Have you checked your magnesium levels? Acropora need stable magnesium around 1350 ppm. If that's off, no amount of salinity tweaking will help. Also, what's your flow like? They need strong, random flow to thrive.

Re: How to store plants without a tank
I've been in your shoes before, and trust me, I've learned the hard way. If you want my honest opinion, I'd say ditch the bucket idea and go for a clear plastic tote instead. Not only will it provide better visibility, but it'll also give you more room to work with.

Re: best substrate for cory catfish
I'm going to have to advise against using Eco-Complete, it's just too harsh for corys. And honestly, adding a sand-like material on top isn't going to solve the issue, it'll just sift down or get rooted through by the corys.

Re: Is this sand safe for my aquarium?
I'm considering ditching gravel vacs altogether. I've seen some YouTubers swear by not vacuuming, letting the poop act as a natural fertilizer for plants. I'm planning on using sand for all my breeding tanks, but I'm wondering if I can get away with bare bottom for my neptunes and endlers.

Re: Is this sand safe for my aquarium?
These warnings are mainly about the dust from the sand, which is a health concern if you inhale it, especially. Once it's wet, it shouldn't be releasing any toxins, assuming it's pure silica sand. Just be careful when rinsing it, all sand has a lot of dust.
