Re: White bubbles on tank surface

Surface agitation can help break up those bubbles. What's your flow like? If it's too low, the bubbles just sit there. Also, what kind of fish are in there? Some species are messier than others.

Re: Exploring the world of caves

I truly believe that having fun with the aquascape is key. Don't just toss in some decorations and call it a day. When you put thought into creating a beautiful environment, it makes the tank more enjoyable for both you and your fish.

Re: Exploring the world of caves

In my opinion, having interesting rock formations would be the key. This allows them to graze on algae and also provides a sense of security and visual interest. I'm not sure they necessarily claim a specific cave as their own, it's more about having a variety of hideaways and visual barriers to ...

Re: Can black tetra, glofish tetra, and black skirt tetra coexist with bumble bee goby?

Bumblebee gobies you're interested in come from brackish water, which is a mix of salt and fresh water. Not many common fish are from this type of water. Most people who keep them have a single-species tank, and that's partly because there aren't many compatible tankmates, and also because bumblebee ...

Re: Finding Forever Homes: Successful Rehoming Stories

Glofish have a jellyfish gene inserted into their embryo to produce a range of colors. Initially, they were created to fluoresce in the presence of certain pollutants in waterways, but then someone saw an opportunity to profit from them in the tropical fish hobby trade, and now we have multiple ...

Re: Finding Forever Homes: Successful Rehoming Stories

I think it's more likely a glo-fish white skirt tetra, probably genetically modified or dyed. Some local fish stores, even the ones that cater to hobbyists, are stocking these. I suppose they appeal to the younger crowd, like Little Timmy types.

Re: Keeping betta with live bearers

I would put the betta in the livebearers tank temporarily, and then try to get a larger tank (5-10 gal) for the betta ASAP. Bettas, especially slow, long-finned ones, won’t necessarily kill everything immediately, but keeping one with other fish permanently is a ticking time-bomb.

They aren’t harmful unless you are dealing with very small fry/baby shrimp, and won’t proliferate unless you’re overfeeding.

Re: choosing peaceful nano fish to keep with platys

Finding tankmates that fit Platy water parameters is proving to be quite the challenge. I'm really struggling to find options that align with my existing water conditions.

Re: choosing peaceful nano fish to keep with platys

I've been considering water parameters and I think I need to reconsider my choice of chili rasboras, given that I have platies which are hard water fish. Chili rasboras and Badis, for instance, are very soft water fish, which might not be the best fit for my tank.

Also, I've been looking into the ...
