Yep, and overstocking is a big no. Even peaceful tank mates can stress a betta if the tank's too crowded. Always check bioload before adding more fish.

The key is tank size and setup. A 10-gallon with plenty of hiding spots can work for peaceful species like harlequin rasboras. Avoid fin-nippers like tiger barbs, though. Also, monitor behavior closely for the first few days.

That's a good point. OP, how old is your pleco? Males usually show more aggression as they mature.
