Who Gives A Fish Forums

I've kept mushrooms for years, and they're one of the easiest corals to care for. My 55-gallon has a mix of species, and I feed them every two weeks with a slurry of frozen foods. They're under cheap Amazon LEDs, and they're still thriving.

Sounds like a classic case of an uncycled tank. If rehoming the fish or taking them back to the store isn't an option, I'd recommend reading up on fish-in cycling on this forum - there's some great advice here.
