Re: best water flow for Pocillopora

Indirect flow is key. Direct flow can damage the tissue over time. I use a Tunze 6040 on random mode, pointed at the glass to diffuse it. Pocillopora's been encrusting nicely for 6 months now.

Re: Post-disease tank recovery

Bacteria starter's a good call. Also, if your plants took a hit, trim the dead leaves so they don't rot and spike ammonia. What's your lighting schedule? Plants recover faster with consistent light, but not too intense.

Re: Post-disease tank recovery

Sand's tricky with meds. Stir it lightly during water changes to release any trapped stuff. Also, if you're running a sponge filter, squeeze it in old tank water to clean it without killing the bacteria. How often were you dosing?

Re: Post-disease tank recovery

If you used copper-based meds, check your carbon filter. It's gonna absorb residual copper, but replace it after a week. Also, test your GH and KH, some meds can mess with those. What's your substrate? Sand holds onto meds longer than gravel.

Honestly, it's gonna be tough without CO2. You might wanna start with something easier like Marsilea hirsuta.

Re: anyone tried monte carlo carpeting?

Yep, I've had success with Monte Carlo in my 15 gallon. It took about 3 weeks to really take off. What's your lighting schedule? Mine's on for 8 hours a day, and I keep the CO2 around 30 ppm.
