Re: best plants for a Shrimp tank
Yep, fishing line works best for me too. It's cheap and easy to remove once the plant's attached. I've also used cotton thread in a pinch, but it takes longer to break down. Just make sure the rhizome isn't buried, like dudekay said.

Re: best plants for a Shrimp tank
I'd add some Marimo Moss Balls to the list. They're low maintenance and shrimp seem to enjoy rolling them around. Plus, they help with water quality. My tank has a mix of Java Moss, Anubias, and Marimo, and the shrimp are thriving. What's your water temp? Shrimp prefer it around 72–78°F.

Re: Are my betta fish sick?
To help you better, it'd be great if you could share some photos of your bettas. Also, if you could provide your water parameters - like ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates - that would be super helpful.
Are the bettas in the 10-gallon tank males or females, by the way? And is the tank divided or are ...

Re: Do betta fish with elaborate tails become fatigued?
If you want a betta with a smaller tail, plakats are a great option.
A plakat betta is a short-tailed variety, they're still classified as other types, like half moons or comb tails, but the main difference is they have shorter tails rather than the full, flowing ones. I've seen some lovely ...

Re: Do betta fish with elaborate tails become fatigued?
I believe it's largely stress that causes them to start biting their tails. Three of my half moon Bettas have done this at some point - two of them started in the shop, and one has actually bitten quite far down the top half of his tail. Another one also started in the shop but has continued a bit ...

Re: A growing sense of worry
I appreciate the responses, but unfortunately, my Betta didn't make it through the night. It's made me think he might have had an underlying issue that the stress of the move brought to the surface. I'm a bit stumped as the shrimp are all happy and active, so I'm leaning towards the former. I'll do ...

Re: A growing sense of worry
I think 23.5°C should be fine for him, but it's good you're taking precautions. Do you have a separate thermometer to double-check the temperature? Our betta likes to snooze by the heater and filter too, but if yours is lethargic all day, it's a bit worrying. Does the tank have some hiding spots ...
