Re: is my tank too old for new plants?

Root tabs are clutch for gravel. Stick 'em deep near where you plant the Crypts. Also, don't freak if they melt. Mine looked dead for weeks, then popped out new leaves like it was nothing.

Re: is my tank too old for new plants?

3 years ain't that old, dude. Crypts are tough as nails. What's your substrate? If it's just gravel, might wanna toss in root tabs. My Crypt Wendtii's been thriving in a 5-year-old tank with basic sand, no fancy stuff.

Thanks, did you notice the female hiding behind the male in the first pic, she's always by his side

buzznut wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 4:34 pm Yo, that's sketchy. Did you check your RODI water? Sometimes the filters go bad and dump nitrates. Also, how old's your live rock? Old rock can leach nasties.
For real, man. My RODI unit was the culprit last year. Swapped the DI resin and it fixed everything.

keeping the nigerian red kribensis

I made this topic for Peterclark so he can see the progress they've made.
Male, we've seen some development.
Female, not as much, but still some.

Re: other ideas to consider

A chunky school of fish could definitely liven up your tank. I've personally kept tigers with my kribs and it's worked out well, but you've got to consider the risk of the eggs and fry being eaten - most fish find them quite tasty.

Penguin tetras might be an option, they're not as common in tanks ...

Re: other ideas to consider

The danios are a great deal near me, 4 for £5, so I can stock up easily. Thanks for backing me up on the 10 being better than 6, I've always thought 6 just doesn't look like a proper school.
