Re: My female kribensis is in hiding
I've got a male and female krib, they're an established pair and supposedly bred before I got them. Initially, the male claimed a stone cave and the female a terracotta plant pot. Then the female joined the male, and they were always active, swimming around. But after that, they just stayed in the ...

Re: determining the sex of kribs
Reconsidering, I'm now thinking I've got 4 ladies on my hands. Guess I was way off.

determining the sex of kribs
I'm rethinking this now...
I've got 4, and I'm pretty sure it's 2 males and 2 females...
I've already moved the one I thought was a male to my Roma 240, so I've got 3 left in my Roma 200. Goal is to have a pair in each tank.

Re: troubleshooting my planted aquarium issues
I think the substrate depth could be the issue here. I've found that swords tend to do better with a deeper root network, so I'd recommend aiming for 2-3 inches of substrate. If it's too shallow, they'll likely grow short and wide instead of developing those long stems you're looking for.

Re: Betta struggles after roundworm treatment
I'm stumped, it sounds like you've covered all bases. One thing that might be worth trying is adding some garlic to his food - I've heard nematodes aren't too fond of allicin. I've used Seachem Garlic Guard in the past, but you could also try a DIY approach if you're feeling adventurous ...

Re: How to quarantine plants for healthy growth
I've just made a last-ditch attempt at having a planted tank, despite my fish's best efforts to eat and uproot them. I've ordered a biotope bundle from the shop, which is essentially a mystery box of 50 plants from a region of my choice - I went with South America. After reading the fine print, I ...

Re: Growing vallisneria in soft water
My water's around 5.7 dGH and I've found vallisneria does alright, I think the key is it's a root feeder so it's probably more about the nutrients in the substrate or using root tabs.
Considering your location in the UK, I'd suggest going with TNC root plugs - they're a great option and don't ...

Re: online resources for plant enthusiasts
Been really pleased with the plants I got from Tropical Fish Keeping UK - they've got the full Tropica range, which is a big plus for me.
