Thanks, all. Dial stays dry, got it. Running at 76F with a school of Tetras and a pair of Rams. No backup heater yet, coastrider. Gonna grab one this weekend.

Eheim Jager submersible depth

Just got an Eheim Jager heater, 200W. The manual says it's submersible but doesn't specify max depth. Anyone know how deep it can go? Running a 55g with sand substrate, about 18 inches deep. Don't wanna fry it.

Bacterial blooms are common with new plants, but your params look solid. How's the flow in your tank? Low flow can let debris settle. Might wanna tweak your HOB output or add a small powerhead if it's stagnant.

I'm inclined to agree with felinxo that the tiny critters you saw are likely copepods. I'm curious, though, how your Duncan is faring since my own has been experiencing a similar "cycle" lately.
