Algae is a sign of imbalance. Test your water parameters, adjust feeding, and reduce light duration. Consistency is critical.

I'd add Severums, they're great with Jewels.
This is mum, dad and the kids. Had a 250 liter tank, Severums spawned multiple times, always managed to raise a few. Sold the set up, had 30 Severums plus the two Jewel Cichlids you can see in the photo.
