Re: Best food for corydoras

I've been using a mix of sinking pellets and frozen foods for years, and my corys are thriving. One tip: feed them after lights out if you have aggressive tankmates. Corys are more active at night and this gives them a better chance to eat in peace.

That's a great point. I've noticed my corys ...

Re: Best food for corydoras

I've had great results with Hikari sinking wafers. They're packed with nutrients and my corys seem to love them. I also toss in some blanched zucchini or cucumber once a week for extra fiber. Just remove any uneaten veggies after a few hours to avoid messing with water quality.

Re: setting up my 3-foot marine tank

My clownfish never do that apart from when i walk past or watever, but the firtideflow always bolts for cover, even when the lights are on, its like they're on high alert or something.

Re: External filter recommendations

Good point. If you're planning to add more fish or plants down the line, go with the Oase. The extra media space is worth it.

Re: External filter recommendations

Another option is the Eheim Classic. It's not as fancy, but it's bulletproof and whisper-quiet. I've had one running for five years with no problems. Just gotta clean the impeller every few months.

Re: External filter recommendations

The Fluval 407 is a good choice, but if you're looking for something with more customization, check out the Oase Biomaster Thermo. It's got a built-in heater, which saves space, and the pre-filter is super easy to clean. I've had mine running for two years with zero issues.

I second the Oase ...

Re: seahorse and their preferred perches

I've heard of people using algae as a resting spot for seahorses, maybe something like caulerpa? Not super familiar with them myself, but it might be worth looking into.

Re: First torch coral

Side note, you might want to consider upping the flow in your tank, or look into a red slime remover to help clear out that cyano bacteria.

Coral prices

I'd be willing to spend a pretty penny on a yellow fungia, but it really depends on the quality and size of the coral. What's your budget looking like for this purchase?
