I'd second the peat idea. It's a cheap fix and won't nuke your tank like chemical buffers can. Just toss a mesh bag in your filter. Also, how often are you testing? Daily swings are normal, but if it's consistently high, something's up.

Yep, shadowing's a real issue. I lost a few Zoas because my plating Monti got too big. Now I keep it on the sandbed.

Thanks for the input slyzen, anyone else got thoughts on this setup? Would a single Synodontis nyassae Catfish be a good fit, they do get pretty large though?
