Yeah, Eheim's a classic for a reason. Super reliable, just kinda a pain to open up for maintenance.

Oase is chill, but Fluval's quieter in my experience. Then again, my tank's in my bedroom, so I'm picky about noise. Either way, you can't go wrong.

Dude, just grab a Fluval 407. It's kinda pricey but worth it. My barbs love the flow, and it's dead silent. Plus, you can mess with the media baskets however you want.

I had a similar issue with my peppermint shrimp, it was picking at my acan and causing it to close up. Took about 3 days for it to fully recover and open back up. I ended up moving the shrimp to my other tank, one that doesn't have any acans, problem solved.

I've always had a thing about snails, so I've been disinfecting my plants before adding them to the tank - I know they're beneficial, but I just can't help it. I've tried various methods, including bleach, but the plants often suffer or a snail egg or two will manage to survive.
