Re: can discus eat live brine shrimp?
Thanks for all the advice, everyone. I'll try hatching my own shrimp and see how it goes. Gonna set up a small tank for it this weekend. Appreciate the tips!

can discus eat live brine shrimp?
I've been thinking about adding live brine shrimp to my Discus diet. They're currently on a mix of flakes and frozen bloodworms, but I wanna spice it up. My tank's a 75-gallon with sand substrate, driftwood, and some Amazon swords. Water's at 84°F, pH 6.8, and I do 30% changes twice a week. Anyone ...

Re: why discus nip at plants?
Yep, mine used to mess with the plants too. Turned out they were bored. Added some driftwood and a few dither fish like rummynose tetras, and they chilled out. How's your lighting schedule? Too much light can stress 'em.

Re: How often to feed a Betta
Back in my day, we fed bettas every other day and they lived for years. These days, folks are too worried about feeding schedules. Just don't overdo it, and your fish'll be fine.

Re: tank cleaning routine for discus
Twice a week's solid, but stress could be from the sand. Fine sand traps debris, messes with water quality. Try vacuuming deeper during changes, and check nitrates before and after. My crew chills at 82, less fluctuation. Also, what's your flow like? Discus hate strong currents.

Re: can discus handle high nitrates?
Back in my day, we didn't even test nitrates. Fish either lived or died. Now I keep 'em at 20 ppm with a canister and pothos roots in the HOB. Works a charm.

Frogspawn and duncan corals not extending polyps
I've got a bit of a mystery on my hands with my frogspawn and duncan colonies. They just stopped extending their polyps over a month ago, and it's been driving me crazy. They'll slightly start to extend, then immediately recede - it's like they're teasing me. They don't seem to be dying or anything ...
