breeding peacocks successfully
I've got a male aulonacara jacobfreiberg eureka and a female ob peacock, think they've bred together, female's holding at the moment. Wondering if the fry are worth keeping, any chance some of them will grow into a nice colour strain?

Re: Filter stops at 3 AM nightly
I recommend keeping a log of when the filter stops. This can help identify any patterns or external factors causing the issue.

Re: Filter stops at 3 AM nightly
I agree with checking the impeller. A thorough cleaning might resolve the issue. Also, ensure the filter is not placed on an uneven surface, as this can cause operational problems.

Re: Help with tanganyika
Sounds good that that's the case for the other groups too. For stocking, I was thinking of getting 10 of each, 5 males and 5 females, then removing the ones that get driven to the top till I get a pair in each group, letting them build their colonies. Or would it be better to get 1 male and 5 ...

Re: Help with tanganyika
I quite like the look of some of the similis. I was thinking along the lines of what you said about not many fry surviving, maybe just having one species and a pair and letting them have their fry and all that. But with three species, I'd be happy if some of the fry from each batch made it, till I ...

Re: Help with tanganyika
So I'm thinking of going with 3 types, one for the shells, one for the rocks and one for the open water, does that sound like a good plan?
Would they breed happily with different groups of fish in the tank and start their own colonies? I'm really interested in setting up a thriving breeding colony ...

Re: Help with tanganyika
I'm looking to start a colony of one species but if I could make a colony of 2 species work, I might consider it. I don't know a lot about them though. Was thinking about Lamprologus oceliatus but they're pretty small. Really after something colourful that breeds easily, so I can build a colony ...

Re: Help with tanganyika
Yeah, I suspected as much. So, has anyone else out there had experience with similar fish, perhaps some colourful species that fit my tank specs?

Help with tanganyika
Thinking of starting a tank, was wondering if anyone could lend a hand with a few things.
My tank is 350 litres, 4 ft long, and I'm looking to start a breeding colony.
Ideally, I'd like a species that's really colourful, not too big, not too small - around 1-5 inches is perfect.
