Re: Decorating a Betta tank on a budget
Yep, dollar stores are clutch. Also, check out thrift stores for small ceramic cups or mugs. They make great hides if you sand down any rough edges. My betta loves chillin' in his coffee mug.

Re: discus tank water change myths
Yo, my LFS told me Discus need distilled water or they'll freak. That sound sketchy? I'm using tap with Prime in a 55g, sponge filter, and they're vibing. But now I'm second-guessing.

Yo, get yourself a turkey baster for spot cleaning. It's clutch for sucking up leftover food and debris without messing with the whole tank.

Re: why is discus tank ph dropping?
Yo, my tank did the same thing last month. Added a bag of aragonite sand in the filter, fixed it in like 3 days. Cheap fix, works like a charm. Also, test your tap water's pH after sitting out for 24 hours. Sometimes it's lower than you think.

Re: Why do discus fins look clamped?
Could be parasites, man. Mine had clamped fins and it turned out to be gill flukes. Treated with PraziPro and they chilled out. You see any scratching or weird breathing?

Re: discus gill flukes treatment options
yeah, carbon's a no-go with meds. i learned that the hard way. tank's 60g, got some driftwood and java fern, fish were cool after treatment. just keep an eye on 'em, they'll bounce back.

I've been using Astaxanthin powder from KensFish.com on my beef heart. I sprinkle it on, mix it in well before freezing, and that's how I feed my fish.
