If you're using tap, test it first. My local water's got 10 ppm straight from the faucet. Had to switch to RO with remineralizer.

My LFS told me Montis are low-light corals. Running cheap LEDs at 30%, 7 hours. 15-gallon tank, 8.0 alk, 390 calc, 0 nitrates. They're alive but not growing. Sounds like I've been underdoing it?

I second Vyro9's approach. My Montipora caps thrive under similar settings, 70% peak on Radions, 9 hours total. Tank's 30 gallons, 8.0 alk, 410 calc, 3 nitrates. If you don't have a PAR meter, observe the polyps—retracted means too much light, extended means they're happy.
