Aquasoil's the way to go if you can swing it. The nutrients help a ton, especially in the early stages. Sand can work, but you'll need root tabs.

Monte Carlo's a beast if you give it what it wants. I've got it carpeting my 40 breeder with a Finnex Planted+ light and DIY CO2. It's not as fast as with pressurized, but it's getting there. How often are you trimming?

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll keep a close eye on things and maybe grab some hornwort this weekend. The betta's name is Blue, and he's about a year old. There's maybe 10 fry, all super tiny still. Fingers crossed they make it!

It depends on the betta's temperament. Some are aggressive, others ignore small fish. Your setup sounds good with the hiding spots. Monitor the betta's behavior closely for the next few days. If he starts flaring or chasing, you might need to separate them. What's your water change routine like ...

Endler fry in betta tank: Is my betta safe?
So I've got a 10 gallon tank with a male betta and a bunch of Endler fry that hitched a ride on some plants. The betta's been chill so far, but I'm worried he might snap. Anyone dealt with this before? Tank's got a sponge filter, temp at 78, and plenty of java moss for hiding spots.
