Aquasoil's the way to go if you can swing it. The nutrients help a ton, especially in the early stages. Sand can work, but you'll need root tabs.

Re: anyone tried monte carlo carpeting?

Monte Carlo's a beast if you give it what it wants. I've got it carpeting my 40 breeder with a Finnex Planted+ light and DIY CO2. It's not as fast as with pressurized, but it's getting there. How often are you trimming?

Re: Endler fry in betta tank: Is my betta safe?

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll keep a close eye on things and maybe grab some hornwort this weekend. The betta's name is Blue, and he's about a year old. There's maybe 10 fry, all super tiny still. Fingers crossed they make it!

is my betta suffering from fin rot?

I've got a super delta betta in a heated 4-gallon planted tank with a low-flow filter that's working great. Water parameters are all good - pH is 7.0-7.2, which I know is on the higher side, but I've heard stability is key, so I'm not too worried about it. Ammonia and nitrites are 0 ppm, and ...
