Re: Egyptian blue lipped mouthbrooder fish care
The Egyptkento4 Mouth Brooders I saw were being kept in a temporary setup with some Congo tetras, and let's just say it wasn't exactly a harmonious coexistence.

Egyptian blue lipped mouthbrooder fish care
Had a browse around my LFS last night, stumbled upon an unlabelled species that caught my eye - absolutely stunning. Initially thought it was a dwarf cichlid I'd never seen before, given the colours and shape. Asked the staff about it and they told me it was an Egyptkento4 Mouth Brooder. Luckily, I ...

Didn't even think about that. Gonna stick to Anubias and Hornwort for now. Appreciate the help, everyone.

Thanks for the tips. Gonna try Anubias and Hornwort first. How's the lighting for these? Running a basic LED setup, 6 hours a day.

Re: My cichlid is showing signs of distress
It can only help, you know, doing another water change, even if it's just 50%, it's better than nothing, and maybe it'll give your fish a bit of a break.

Re: My cichlid is showing signs of distress
Hi, I've had my Fluval edge 46L up and running for about 3 weeks now, started with 5 African Cichlids and a bristle nose catfish, now I'm down to 3 Cichlids. Had a long air stone across the back but it was causing too much splashing, so I took it out and let it run for a week, fish seemed fine ...

Re: My cichlid is showing signs of distress
I think the issue here is that the tank is still in its early stages. Three weeks is a relatively short period of time for a tank to establish a stable environment. I'm guessing the fish are struggling due to ammonia or nitrite poisoning.

Re: Removing fish from an ornament: a grisly task?
I'd suggest giving it some time, the decomposition process will eventually make it possible to flush out the remains. Consider placing the ornament outside in direct sunlight, this should speed up the process.
That's the ticket. Whatever method you choose, just get that ornament and the, ah ...
